Chief of Staff

ColdSpark | Pittsburgh, PA

ColdSpark is a Pittsburgh-based Republican political consulting and public affairs firm. We’re growing our public affairs team while looking to further solidify our reputation in the political arena - and we’re looking for a Chief of Staff to take a leadership role in executing on that vision.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is excellent at executing, prioritizing and juggling multiple things at one time. You know what you don't know — and you're comfortable saying so. You ask questions when something isn't clear, and you probe assumptions. You are comfortable operating in gray areas: a lot of our operational challenges and decision points don’t have a clear cut right answer.

You are comfortable thinking strategically, but also low ego and willing to pitch in lower level tasks, embodying a “no job too big, no job too small mentality.” But you're also able to take a tough line when needed: this role requires earning the trust of people across the firm but holding those same people accountable when things go sideways.

You will be at the heart of a 40+ operation and across four sister companies, so you need to be able to manage multiple large independent projects and make quick decisions.

If you want a role with a fixed scope and a clear playbook from day one, this isn't it. This role will grow with you — and we expect you to push it.

What You'll Actually Do

Internal operations & strategic planning

  • Own the agenda and all prep materials for quarterly partner meetings, the annual partners retreat, and the annual staff retreat. Attend quarterly meetings, track action items, and make sure they don't die on the vine.

  • Monitor progress toward ColdSpark's long-term goals and annual KPIs. If an initiative is stalling, you're the one who flags it and pushes it forward.

  • Work directly with the Managing Partner to execute operational and strategic initiatives — including the firm's brand positioning and public affairs growth trajectory.

Business development support

  • Maintain visibility into the firm's business development pipeline across the firm’s five partners. Help ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Jump in on writing pitches and BD materials when partners need support.

Finance & forecasting

  • Develop a working understanding of firm financials. Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for partners. Support the Managing Partner on forecasting and financial planning.

  • Help drive key decisions based on these financials including on staffing, strategic direction, etc.

Subsidiary oversight

  • Maintain regular communication with ColdSpark's corporate sub-entities and keep an eye on their financials. Keep things aligned between the sub-entities and HQ.

How This Role Evolves

In the first one to six months, your job is to learn, ask hard questions, and proactively surface things we might be missing. As you build context and credibility, this role takes on more decision-making authority within the firm.

Compensation

This is a salaried position with a pay range of $125,000-$150,000 commensurate with experience and includes full benefits including 100% employer paid healthcare, and a 401k. This position is eligible for bonuses and incentive pay.
